Rider and Bike

"To them, the bike is just garage clutter. To us, it's a loaded Beretta, a half-million in cash, and a forged passport under the floorboards." - Dan Walsh

According to the Russian playwright, Anton Chekhov, if you put a gun on stage in the first act of a play, it should be used in the second act, in other words, don't introduce a gun unless you intend to use it. Likewise, don't introduce a motorbike into somebody's life and be surprised if they use it in their second act. Having passed 50, I reckon I am in my second act, which is a long winded way of saying I had to do this trip, I had no choice, really...

I will be riding Yamaha XT660Z Tenere. A great website, XT660.com provides all the information you may need if you are interested in this bike.

A few years in the planning the attraction of a ride through the America's made the chosen route an easy decision. There's plenty of others who have done this route and many good books and blogs are out there to be read, special mention must go to Horizons Unlimited (see side panel) which is a gateway to all this information.
